The Magic the Gathering Dark Ascension set is second in the Innistrad block and is due to be released on February 3, 2012. Being the 58th magic gathering expansion the set is very highly anticipated by different fans of Magic. The 158 card set will see the return of double faced cards, as well as sharing many mechanics from the previous set.
Continuing on from the storyline of Innistrad, the Magic the Gathering Dark Ascension set, is set on the plane of the same name – which is currently plagued by Werewolves, Zombies, Vampires and Ghosts, to name be a few of the merciless creatures that roam through the night. The set is very much focused on these creature types, treating them like individual tribes; each set is given a lord to rule them.
A new keyword mechanic called ‘Undying’ is introduced with the Magic Gathering Dark Ascension set, which has been identified as similar to ‘Persist’ due to its functionality. A new ability word is also introduced, which has been called ‘Fateful Hour’ which has the functionality of having an effect on any controller, providing it is 5 or less. The transformation mechanic has been further showcased with the re-introduction of the double faced cards, a very popular feature of Magic.
To a certain extent, the Magic the Gathering Dark Ascension set has been able to redefine cycles as in some of the cycles there are only four cards available.
The known cycles so far include; increasing flashback spells, Mythic Rare allied colour creatures, ally flashback cards, enemy flashback cards, tribal lords and enemy utility lands. This provides an exciting new twist to the game play seen in Innistrad and will be perfect for those who love playing with creatures of the night.
In addition to this, we also feature a wide variety of different cards for you to browse through from the previous Magic the Gathering Innistrad set. Be sure to check it out now and keep building your master deck!
